This qualitative study of 36 high‐risk youth and their families identified the need for educational/career services, high quality after‐school programs, behavioral health and social services, safety and violence interventions, sports/recreational activities, and sex education.
Patterns of articles published in the Journal of Addictions & Offender Counseling from 1998 to 2017 were reviewed in this metastudy. Author and article characteristics for 172 articles are described and analyzed for trends over time.
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between emotional intelligence and cultural empathy in addiction counselors. A hierarchical regression analysis revealed emotional intelligence accounted for most of the variance in cultural empathy in this model.
We examined the indirect effect of distress tolerance on alcohol use and problems via drinking‐to‐cope motives within a national sample of young adults (N = 297). Analyses suggested coping motives mediated the relationship between distress tolerance and drinking.
