After establishing that the conditions of the spiritistic psychic and that of the hypnotic subject are identical at the time when their respective phenomena are produced, and that this condition in both is what is know as hypnosis or partial hypnosis, the author considers how this can take place by providing a test case of a typical séance. Using this test case and the telepathic explanation, the author describes the way proselytes to spiritism are made. The author also examines the test cases of the Rev. Minot J. Savage and Mr F.W.H. Myers and notes the small residuum of phenomena which they cannot account for. After describing a shipwreck and an alleged spirit communication from a victim, the author offers a telepathic explanation, and compared telepathy vs clairvoyance.
