We discuss ( a ) the antigenic requirements for cross-presentation, ( b ) the phenotype of the antigen presenting cell (APC), ( c ) the cellular interactions and molecular signals involved in cross-priming, and ( d ) the factors that direct the immune system toward tolerance or immunity.
