These services can be provided by anyone with a d e q u a t e d a t a and expertise a n d made available on the internet for anyone to use. For instance, Yahoo or Altavista, given their huge categorized d o c u m e n t collection, can train a d o c u m e n t classifier and provide the model as a service on the internet. This way d a t a mining can be made accessible to a wider audience instead of being limited to people with the d a t a a n d the expertise. A host of practical problems need to be solved before this idea can be made to work.
