Conference Report news and miscellanea Women’s Organizations and Female Activists in the Aftermath of the First World War: Central and Eastern Europe in National, Transnational, International, and Global Context Report on an Interdisciplinary, International Conference held at the Institute for Sociology, Centre for Social Sciences, Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary, 17–19 May 2013 Ingrid Sharp, University of Leeds Budapest is an ideal location for a conference focusing on movements and activists operating in or communicating with Central and Eastern Europe, areas until recently considered peripheral to the European war story. The conference was organized by Dr. Judit Acsády (Budapest, Hungarian Academy of Sciences) and Ms. Ingrid Sharp (Leeds, UK), supported by a team of postgraduates, and enjoyed the generous support of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the Arts and Humanities Research Coun- cil, UK. The conference was opened by A ila Pók, Deputy Director of the Institute of History of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Background This conference was the fourth in a series.
