Frankfurt am Main, Africa Magna Verlag, 2019, 334 pp., ISBN 978-3-93724-856-1 (hardcover).This is more than an archaeological map, it is a detailed source book about the archaeological sites in a large area to the south and west of Lake Chad in Nigeria. It is the result of a research project conducted by Peter Breunig and numerous colleagues from the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt, Germany, in collaboration with the University of Maiduguri in Nigeria and the assistance of many Nigerians. It is published in English, making it more useable in Nigeria and elsewhere. There is no mention of a German edition. The history of the project over many years is outlined in the book and a discussion of its contents presented, as well as the history of previous research in the area. There is a foreword by Scott MacEachern.This is a difficult area in which to do any sort of fieldwork.
