PROTOCOL ON THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A SECRETARIAT OF THE PERMANENT TRIPARTITE COMMISSION FOR... The Government of The United Republic of Tanzania, The Republic of Kenya, The Republic of Uganda (hereinafter referred to as the Contracting Parties), RECALLING the Declaration on Closer East African Co-operation, signed at Arusha, Tanzania on the 30th November, 1993, TAKING INTO ACCOUNT Article 6 of the Agreement for the Establishment of a Permanent Tripartite Commission for Co-operation between the United Republic of Tanzania, the Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Uganda (hereinafter referred to as the Agreement), RECOGNISING that in an increasingly interdependent world, mutual understanding, good neighbourliness, and meaningful co-operation among the countries of the region are indispensable to the realisation of these goals, RECOGNISING FURTHER, that it is expedient to make provision for giving effect to Article 6 of the Agreement, HAVE AGREED as follows: ARTICLE 1 Establishment 1. By this Protocol, the Contracting Parties establish the Secretariat of the Permanent Tripartite Commission for Cooperation between the United Republic of Tanzania, The Republic of Kenya and the Republic of Uganda (hereinafter referred to as the Secretariat). 2. The headquarters of the Secretariat shall be at Arusha, in the United Republic of Tanzania.
