Abstract
<jats:sec><jats:title>Abstract</jats:title><jats:p>Over the past few decades, civil society has witnessed significant global growth. How to establish a measurement system that is able to effectively evaluate the development of civil society is an important question facing scholars from all countries. This paper will first provide an overview of the meaning behind civil society indices and those that exist today and then carry out an indepth comparison of indices, as created by the scholars Lester Salamon and Helmut Anheier. Using this as a foundation, this paper will then incorporate the current state of civil society in China, analyzing the applicability of its current indices and offer some constructive amendment proposals.</jats:p> </jats:sec>
