This book, written by Dr. Xiaodan Wu, is the twenty-seventh volume in the book series Essential Air and Space Law edited by Dr. Marietta Benkö. The series was launched in 2006 with the publication of its first volume. According to the publisher, the series aims to serve as ‘a useful source of information for technical experts and will familiarize its readers with the legal aspects and implications of international air transport … and the exploration or use of outer space’. In the series, there is another China-specific volume, namely Volume 8 which discusses China’s civil aviation law. The current book addresses another aspect of China, namely its space programs, policies and laws. The book starts with a preface written by Prof. Dr. Kai-Uwe Schrogl, president of the International Institute of Space Law (IISL).
