Kalia at the Second Great Lakes–Union Bank Conference on Financial Inclusion on 12 August 2011 It is indeed an honour for me to deliver the Presidential Address on the occasion of second Great Lakes–Union Bank Conference on Financial Inclusion. We are proud to be associated with this institute by supporting ‘Union Bank Great Lakes Centre for Excellence in Banking’. Our coun- try needs a large pool of creative leaders and entrepreneurs and there- fore, industry participation in management education is essential. Dr Bala Balachandran, as you know, is a great visionary in shaping the management education and we are grateful to him for this association. In January 2009, the memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Union Bank of India and the Great Lakes Institute of Management was formalised to set up the ‘Centre for Excellence in Banking’ for conduct- ing research and learning programme initiatives in banking, financial services sector and insurance.
