Special Feature on Organizations and the Natural Environment Research IN SEARCH OF RELEVANCE AND IMPACT Introduction to a Special Feature on the State of Organizations and the Natural Environment Research MARK STARIK Journal Coeditor and Special Feature Editor Several months after I joined John Jermier as a coeditor of this journal, we agreed that a special feature on the topic of the status of organizations and the natural environment (O&NE) research was needed. We discussed this as one way to place more emphasis on environmental management and policy and to involve researchers from the Academy of Management’s Organizations and the Natural Environment (ONE) interest group more significantly in this journal. This was one of the journal’s primary objectives as outlined in the first issue of Organization & Environment (see Foster, Jermier & Shrivastava, 1997). Accordingly, following this editorial essay, you will find three articles that highlight a number of salient features of the O&NE literature. The articles were invited but were blind reviewed, following the journal’s usual procedures.
