Predicting destination choice — A discussion of destination loyalty

Predicting destination choice — A discussion of destination loyalty Successfully predicting tourism destination choice by potential travellers wouldbe an invaluable advantage to managers and marketers. This paper reviews theliterature on brand loyalty, destination choice and repeat visitation behaviour.Based on this review it argues that previous destination choice over a long timeperiod would provide the necessary information to segment (potential) touristsinto loyalty segments which in turn will provide destination marketers withvaluable information for more cost-effective target marketing. While thisarticle does not test the predictive value of the loyalty typology, it suggeststhat there is a close linkage between previous destination purchase history andfuture purchase behaviour. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Journal of Vacation Marketing: An International Journal for the Tourism and Hospitality Industries SAGE

Abstract

Successfully predicting tourism destination choice by potential travellers wouldbe an invaluable advantage to managers and marketers.
