Abstract

[1] and polypoid carcinoma. The W.H.O. Spindle Cell Carcinoma (SpCC) also classification of tumors of the oral cavity and known as sarcomatoid carcinoma, is a rare and oropharynx has placed this disease entity under peculiar biphasic malignant neoplasm that occurs malignant epithelial tumors of Squamous Cell mainly in the upper aerodigestive tract. It is most Carcinoma (SCC) and labeled it “Spindle cell frequently encountered in the larynx, and also carcinoma” (SpCC). SpCC is an unusual form of occurs in the nasal cavity, hypopharynx, oral poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma cavities, esophagus, trachea, skin and breast. It is (SCC) consisting of elongated (spindle) epithelial a variant of squamous cell carcinoma which has [2] cells that resemble a sarcoma. SpCC is a biphasic spindled or pleomorphic tumor cells which tumor composed of a SCC, either in situ and/or simulate a true sarcoma but are epithelial in invasive, and a malignant spindle cell component origin. It consists of sarcomatoid proliferation of with a mesenchymal appearance, but of epithelial pleomorphic spindle cells and squamous cell [3] origin. There has been confusion over the basic carcinoma. Spindle cell carcinoma is an unusual nature of the sarcomatoid element: whether it is aggressive variant of Squamous
