The Budget and the Year Ahead 1980/1981 BUDGET This supplement to Voltme S, No's. 1 & 2 of the Australian Journal of Management contains the transcripts of three panelists; evaluations of the 1980/81 Australian Budget. The session was held in the Wentworth Hotel, Sydney, on August 26th, 1980. The panelists were: Mr. Geoffrey Board, Director and Group Economist, the Australian United Corporation Limited Professor Malcolm Fisher, Foundation Professor specializing in Economics at the Australian Graduate School of Management Dr. Barry Hughes, Reader in Economics and Director of the Institute of Labour Studies at Flinders University (then on leave as Executive Assistant to the Premier of South Australia) The moderator was Professor Jeremy Davis, Director of the Australian Graduate School of Management. The aim of this supplement is threefold: to evaluate the budget and its implications; to provide insight into the present state of macroeconomics; and to review past predictions in light of current developments.
