[In the background of a significant percentage of (about 10–14) adolescents experiencing some kind of mental health problems which can have a substantial negative impact on their health and functioning, it is imperative to evaluate the effective methods of addressing the issue. However, help-seeking is substantially low in this group due to lack of awareness about the problems as well as help available, stigma, and problems not amounting to clinical diagnosis, makes a strong case for community-based prevention and early intervention, an important option. The chapter gives an overview of the community-based preventive and early psychosocial interventions addressing some of the frequently reported mental health issues of the adolescents. Overall, there is evidence for the usefulness and efficacy of community-based interventions; however, there is a need for integrated, evidence-based interventions which can take time, setting, mode, intensity of intervention and needs of the adolescents into consideration.]
