[Seismic reflection data play a central role in the subsurface modelling and characterization steps of the geo-modelling workflow, as they provide exhaustive spatial information about the subsurface geology. The recorded seismic amplitudes are indirect measurements of the subsurface rock and elastic properties (e.g., porosity, volume of mineral, fluid saturations, density, P-wave and S-wave velocities) and predicting these properties from seismic amplitudes involves solving a challenging inverse problem (i.e., seismic inversion).]
