A rare cerebral venous thrombosis under NOAC: thrombosis of the vein of Galen

A rare cerebral venous thrombosis under NOAC: thrombosis of the vein of Galen Acta Neurologica Belgica https://doi.org/10.1007/s13760-023-02258-2 LE T TER TO  THE   EDITOR A rare cerebral venous thrombosis under NOAC: thrombosis of the vein of Galen 1 1 Taha Aslan  · Ibrahim Oztura Received: 14 February 2023 / Accepted: 25 March 2023 © The Author(s) under exclusive licence to Belgian Neurological Society 2023 Dear Editor, CVT is an uncommon condition found in fewer than 1% of patients with stroke and is typically observed in the supe- rior sagittal and transverse sinuses [1]. Thrombosis in deep venous veins, including the vein of Galen, accounts for around 11% of CVT cases [4]. However, only a few cases of isolated thrombosis of the vein of Galen have been reported in the literature. This rare and serious condition has a vari- able clinical presentation and should be taken into consid- eration in mental state disorders that cannot be explained by other factors. A 65-year-old woman was brought into the emergency room with slowness of movement, appetite loss, confu- sion, and excessive sleepiness for 3 days. Her general practitioner initially suspected an infectious disease, but over time, her condition deteriorated. Prior medical his- tory included nonvalvular atrial fibrillation and diabetes mellitus, and current medications were rivaroxaban 20 mg and linagliptin 5 mg once daily. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Acta Neurologica Belgica Springer Journals
