[One year has passed since the Japanese version of this book was published in Japan. On the occasion of the publication of the English edition, I summarized the circumstances and events in the Fukushima accident, which were unprecedented for nuclear power stations worldwide, and reviewed what could not be written a year ago concerning the safety issues to be improved in future based on the excellence found in existing nuclear reactors responding to the accidents. The discussion here may include points which have already been discussed in previous chapters, but I repeat it because of new insights included. I believe the discussion here significantly helps improve the safety of nuclear power plants worldwide.]
