Als op de longafdeling een COPD-patiënt een exacerbatie heeft, is dan een arterieel bloedgas gewenst of is een capillair bloedgas ook voldoende? Met een arterieel bloedgas (Astrup) kan de samenstelling van het bloed worden bepaald: pH, O2, CO2, HCO3-, BE en O2-sat worden daarbij gemeten. Dit bloedgas wordt afgenomen in de pols (arteria radialis) of de lies (arteria femoralis).
