[This chapter describes the theoretical and research underpinnings to the development of the Child Sexual Exploitation Material Pathways Tool (CPT). The CPT was developed to fill a gap in resources for those working with this client group in order to, first, be a framework for collaborative exploration towards individualised case formulation; second, to complement other information on offence risk assessment, treatment needs, mental health issues, and so on; and, third, to generate strategies for offence desistence and the development of a satisfying and offence-free future. The chapter places the CPT in its research context, outlines each assessment domain, and points to future developments.]
