[According to the available data, climate-related changes have already been observed globally as well as in the eastern Mediterranean region. Projections about climate change are surrounded with a level of uncertainty regarding the pace and the magnitude of these changes. In any case, climate change is associated with a wide range of consequences, such as precipitation decrease, sea-level rise, ocean acidification, droughts, glaciers loss, melting of snow and ice sheets and extreme weather events such as heatwaves, floods and storms. These primary effects of global warming are leading to successive cumulative impacts on various sectors. Cyprus already experiences changes in the mean temperature and precipitation, and projections show exacerbation of the current situation.
