[Summarizing, this book provides a framework for flexibility analysis in sociotechnical systems, an articulation of human systems integration (HSI) as an emerging discipline that focuses on activity-based design and innovation, model-based HSI flexibility, clarifications on sociotechnical systems, and the tangibility issue in our growing digital world. Understanding the shift from rigid automation to flexible autonomy requires a systemic framework, which is reformulated in this chapter. Digital design and engineering bring tangibility as a major issue, whereas risk taking, uncertainty management and proactive research should be primary focuses. This book presents concepts, methods and processes that support design for flexibility, but it also provides a few future challenges. Among these challenges, problem stating should be further studied and rationalized to improve problem-solving capabilities in a more flexible way.]
