[The auto industry experienced rapid growth in the 1980s when the auto products were in short supply for a long time. It then entered a period of slow growth in the 1990s, due to limited purchasing power of consumers. After China’s entry into WTO in 2001, the auto industry came to embrace a golden decade. Now in the first-tier cities, and even second- and third-tier cities, car ownership is close to the saturation level. What new changes have occurred and what’s the tendency in car consumption in 2012? What would potential car buyers take into account when making buying decisions? The survey by Driving Life conducted in eight cities—including Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Jinan, Xi’an, Changsha, Suzhou and Kunming—shows the trend among potential car buyers.]
