In the meantime, however, due to constantly increasing requirements from legisla- tion and further developments in electric powertrains, in particular in battery technology, electric and hybrid drive systems are also becoming a possible option for many uses. Applications in which all-electric vehicles, for example, might be the best choice are quarries, such as the one in Péry-La Heutte in Switzerland. Here, huge dumper trucks transport the stone down into the valley. Along the way, the diesel-powered trucks convert braking energy into heat.
