A telling that may not be fulfilled or accomplished as originally intended perhaps because the use of the writ- ten text may not always be easy or necessarily the most capacious means of I use the terms Mexican and Mexicano to refer to Mexican nationals. However, I may use the term Mexicano in this essay when referring to individuals born or residing in the United States who may also identify as Mexican in addition to other cultural or political monikers of self-identity. For example, for cultural and political reasons when in this country I identify as Mexican, Mexicana, Chicana, and Latina. The terms Mexican American, Chicano, and Chicanx refer to individuals of Mexican descent born or raised in the United States. I also may use the terms Latino and Latinx to refer to different generations of Mexicans collectively or individuals of Latin American descent born, raised, or residing in the United States. A. R.
