The popliteal artery entrapment syndrome represents a complex clinical picture that is generally considered a rare clinical observation. On the contrary, based on clinical signs and diagnostic results, involving different medical (rheumatology and physiatry) and surgical (orthopaedics and angiology) fields, it looks an important disease involving especially young people. The possibility of serious ischemic (thrombotic and/or embolic) complications makes this syndrome a hard challenge for the clinician and the surgeon from a diagnostic and preventive point of view, respectively.
