Smirnova College of Mount Saint Vincent Local Economic Development in the 21st Century deals with important contemporary issues of quality of life and sustainability, and their impact on economic develop- ment. Greenwood and Holt argue that economic growth alone does not constitute economic development and one must consider all costs of growth when evaluating private and public investment projects. Their book will appeal to the general public, students of economics and public policy, policy makers, and economists. The exposition is straightforward; there is no economic modeling; tables and graphs are simple and easy to understand.
