Managed Realignment : A Viable Long-Term Coastal Management Strategy? Methods of Implementation

Managed Realignment : A Viable Long-Term Coastal Management Strategy?: Methods of Implementation [This chapter describes the different methods most commonly used in the implementation of managed realignment. Following the wider definition of managed realignment proposed in Chap. 2, the implementation of managed realignment is more widespread than one might initially anticipate. Many approaches described in the literature reflect different ways in which managed realignment can be implemented. These approaches are grouped into five methods of implementation: removal of defences; breach of defences; realignment of defences; controlled tidal restoration (which includes regulated tidal exchange and controlled reduced tide) and managed retreat. This chapter provides examples of implementation worldwide and describes and contrasts each one of these methods.] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png

Abstract

[This chapter describes the different methods most commonly used in the implementation of managed realignment. This chapter provides examples of implementation worldwide and describes and contrasts each one of these methods.]
