[The six different fields related to the habitat making processes during the history are distinguished in this chapter. These are the culture of habitation building crafts, architectural design discipline, the profession of architecture, construction and real estate development business, and spatial agency. In the last two centuries, human habitation practices witnessed radical shifts. Parallel to that, the practice of architecture transformed in several stages to adapt itself to the new conditions. This study concentrates on the rise of the profession of architecture and its fall and transformation to the new fields of practice. The transformation of the profession of architecture under the effects of the neoliberal policies in the last four decades shaped the new contradictory two fields of practice related to the human habitation processes: construction and real estate development business, and spatial agency. This transformation and the features of these two fields are introduced in this chapter.]
