Oral Health and Dental Care in the Ageing Population Restorative Management of the Older Patient

Oral Health and Dental Care in the Ageing Population : Restorative Management of the Older Patient [As more people retain their teeth into later life, dentitions are becoming heavily restored for many older people. This can introduce a range of challenges especially as a patient progresses through the restorative cycle of care. Restorative treatments, even those of greater complexity, are feasible for many older adults where oral hygiene can be maintained. However, a range of additional considerations arise with age that may mean restoration of teeth is particularly crucial but also that it may be less feasible. This chapter outlines the restorative management of periodontal disease, endodontics, tooth wear, caries, and edentulous spaces. Fixed and removable prostheses are discussed including the role of osseointegrated implants. Challenges related to older people and considerations for care delivery in this group are presented.] http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png

Abstract

[As more people retain their teeth into later life, dentitions are becoming heavily restored for many older people. Challenges related to older people and considerations for care delivery in this group are presented.]
