[The meteorological and hydrological factors affecting the water area of the seaports of Oran, Algiers, and Annaba are studied. An analysis of the average monthly temperatures of the regions of Oran, Algeria and Annaba, recorded at the Dar el Beida weather station for 9 years, shows that the summer season lasts from May to October. It is characterized by relatively high temperatures, ranging from 18.9 °C (Annaba) to 26.6 °C (Algiers) with seasonal averages above 20 °C. The maximum amount of precipitation falls in the winter and spring months. The Algerian coast is dominated by winds coming from the west or northwest, sometimes they turn to the north-northeast. In this case there are dangerous storms for navigation. Frequent storms bring waves from the northern sector, less often from the northeast, but they are more destructive. The occurrence of storms can take place in the period from December to March, sometimes until June. The wettest period for the areas of all ports lasts from September to May, the dry period lasts all summer. At any time of the year relatively high humidity exceeding 70% remains. The general direction of the North African sea current coming from the Atlantic Ocean is from west to east. There are counter currents passing along the Algerian coast, that go in the opposite direction along the coast. As a result of the general south-western and north-eastern orientation of the Algerian coast, reverse waves reach the western capes. In winter waves come to the coast of Algeria mainly from the north-eastern sector of the sea, waves of the northern direction spread throughout the year.]
