In order to treat femoral and tibial midshaft fractures in children we have several options: closed reduction and Paris cast, external fixation and internal fixation, such as the elastic stable intramedullary nail (ESIN). ESIN respects bone healing and allows a fast weight-bearing restoring and a quick return to normal activities. For these reasons it seems to be an optimal treatment, with few complications. In this paper, we report our experience with this method.
