A formal investigation of five glossematic ‘functions’

Abstract 0. This paper summarizes research carried out a few years ago which aims at clarifying certain aspects of Glossematic theory. In this paper I shall redefine the five central Glossematic ‘functions’: 1 ‘interdependence’, ‘determination’, ‘constellation’, ‘relation’, and ‘correlation’ in terms of expressions of predicate calculus. They can then be given a simple semantics in model theory.2
