The following two folios are also of some bearing on the matter, as they preserve for us an affidavit relating to the circumstances of the discovery of these Arabic writings in the lodgings of certain Moriscos, Sim6n de Mendoza, Conzalo de Mendoza and his wife. The present study does not concern itself with the trial of these Moriscos as such, but focuses exclusively on the text of the Spanish translation of the suspicious little Arabic booklet impounded during the search of their quarters.
