Summary L. Bonnemaison: Combined action of “group effect” and host-plant maturity on the production of winged virginoparae pea Aphids (Acyrthosiphon pisum). Aged leaves collected on broad bean in the open induce the aphids to produce a higher percentage of winged individuals than mature leaves of broad bean cultived in green-house. Aphids fed on mature leaves from the first to the third day of their last moulting do not give birth to a higher percentage of winged individuals than the controls, when they are fed again on mature leaves from the 9th to 11th day after their last moulting. A low percentage of winged forms can be obtained, through group effect on young larvae when their mother has been bred in group or on cut mature leaves during four days.
