Two recent books have taken up the challenging task of summarizing this area. Manfred Stede and Jodi Schneider’s monograph Argumentation Mining is an entry in the series Synthesis Lecture on Human Language Technologies, edited by Graeme Hirst. The second, Argument Mining: Linguistic Foundations, by Mathilde Janier and Patrick Saint-Dizier, is based partly on a course given at the European Summer School in Logic, Language and Information. Each book covers interdisciplinary sets of literatures using a roughly similar structure.
