Summary The Gall-midge, Dasyneura oleae, found in all the olive plantations in Syria, has only one generation per year which lives uniquely on olive leaves (phyllophagous generation). However, in the regions that are subject to a continental climat in the interior of the country, the estival diapause can be prolonged one year. For this part of the population, the cycle would then be completed only at the end of two years. In the coastal regions, a secondary generation (anthophagous generation) occurs from March to May in the inflorescences where it probably causes considerable damage.
