Be that as it may, my first reaction on reading A Comparison of Diagnostic and Functional Casework Concepts", was "Anything you can do I can do better, I can do anything better than you", as dia:~nosticians and functionalists supported their claims by the presentation of two cases illustrat- ing the practice of their theory. I noted their success with admiration, their techniques wlth awe.
