Book review their contribution. I list them briefly for our consideration during the discussion period that is to follow. a. In child and adult institutions, where little has been known to date of the principles .and practices which group work insists are .fundamental to the development of healthy and . happy personalities. b. In child guidance clinics and similar agencies, a considerable extension of practice wo~ld be possible if more were known of the importance of group relationships in restoring health. c. In industrial situations those concerned with management­ worker relationships are beginning to sense the importance of group decisions and group planning in the effective develop- ment of industries. . d. In hospital settings a considerable amouht of group work practice has already been accepted in many other countries. There is considerable scope for this kind of practice in most of our medical settings here. e; In community groups throughout the nation there are sporadic and, often abortiv~ attempts to translate the meaning of group activities into effective community achievements. There 1s everywhere the need for guidance, by those experienced in group leadership, of these enthusiastic but often unrealistic attempts to plan for .community goals.
