Turkey has been reluctant to open its bases to the American forces during the Iraqi operation of 2003 and its perceptions of threat and risks associated with this operation, in particular over the Kurdish question, seem to diverge from the other EU member states. It is in this wider framework that this book is particularly welcome. It is a collection of 12 essays covering a wide range of security issues, including in particular those related to Turkish foreign policy agenda—such as: Turkey’s relations with the USA, the EU, its Middle Eastern neighbours, the Eurasian countries, Black Sea littoral states, and Greece and Cyprus. It also discusses Turkish policy towards energy security and peacekeeping operations.
