Caractères Systématiques et Classification des Anthocoridae [Hemipt.] Summary J. Carayon: Systematic characters and Classification of Anthocoridae. Through convergence or parallel evolution, a great number of Anthocoridae with no close relation are very much alike; on the contrary, the members of a quite homogeneous group may show very different habitus. This is only one of the numerous difficulties found in the classification of these Hemiptera. The 2 or 3 characters used until now to subdivide the family seem insufficient. New characters are given. Many proceed from morphology, but others are derived from anatomy, ecology, and the remarkable peculiarities linked to the existence of extragenital traumatic insemination in most of Anthocoridae. The use of these characters leads to the following classification: This work presents also the following new systematic informations. — New Genera: Blaptostethoides, Scolopocoris — Generic synonymies: Calliodis Reuter (= Asthenidea Reuter), Compsobiella Poppius ( = Nabidomorpha Poppius), Physopleurella Reuter (= Ostorodiasoides Distant), Scoloposcelis Fieber ( = Cryptotrichiella Poppius), Xylocoris Dufour (= Septicius Distant). — Specific synonymies: Amphiareus constrictus (Stål) (= Lasiochilus sladeni Distant), Blaptostethus pallescens Poppius (= Blaptostethus pleneti Carayon), Buchananiella sodalis (Buch.-White) (= Lasiochilus fraternus Uhler), Cardiastethus elegans Uhler (= Cardiaslethus uhleri China), Compsobiella elongata Poppius (= Nabidomorpha bimaculata Poppius), Scoloposcelis unicolor (Poppius) (= Scoloposcelis africanus Carayon). — New combinations: Blaptostethoides pacificus (Herring), Calliodis temnostethoides (Reuter) and the other combinations proceeding from the fact that all the species of Asthenidea are to be transferred into the genus Calliodis, Macrotracheliella conica (Blanchard), Orius elegans (Blanchard), Orius gardinieri (Distant), Physopleurella signata (Distant), Physopleurella typica (Distant), Scolopocoris gracilicornis (Poppius), Scoloposcelis unicolor (Poppius), Xylocoris clarus (Distant). http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annales de la Société entomologique de France (N S ) Taylor & Francis
