Chinese Family and Market Economy The aim of this paper is to present and examine critically, perspectives regarding the impact of industrialization on Chinese marriage and family as presented by the mainland scholars and family workers at the Fourth National Conference on Chinese Marriage and Family in Market Economy, Guangzhou, People's Republic of China, 6–8 January 1994. The influence of Chinese culture and history on the interpretation of the impact of industrialization on marriage and family is discussed.
