Comportement Alimentaire et Prise de Nourriture des Chenilles d'Ostrinia Nubilalis [Lep. Pyraustidae] en Présence de « Dimboa »

Comportement Alimentaire et Prise de Nourriture des Chenilles d'Ostrinia Nubilalis [Lep.... Summary The corn resistance factor Dimboa [2,4-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-(2H)-1, 4-benzoxazin-3-(4H)-one] has been isolated from corn seedlings and was studied at the concentrations of 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 mg/g by mixing it in two artifical diets based on wheat germ and beans. This substance showed inhibiting action in the feeding behaviour of newly hatched larvae of Ostrinia nubilalis Hbn. and also in food consumption of the fifth instar larvae. However, it acted independently of the food composition, the dose was the important factor. The creation of tolerant hybrids/lines of corn in order to reduce the borer damage constitutes as one of the control methods against the corn borer. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annales de la Société entomologique de France (N S ) Taylor & Francis

Abstract

Summary The corn resistance factor Dimboa [2,4-dihydroxy-7-methoxy-(2H)-1, 4-benzoxazin-3-(4H)-one] has been isolated from corn seedlings and was studied at the concentrations of 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 and 0.5 mg/g by mixing it in two artifical diets based on wheat germ and beans. However, it acted independently of the food composition, the dose was the important factor. The creation of tolerant hybrids/lines of corn in order to reduce the borer damage constitutes as one of the control methods against the corn borer.
