Summary Studies were carried out, using thin-layer two-dimensional chromatographic system, to determine free amino acids in larvae and adults of Dacus oleae Gmelin collected in a natural environment. Results are discussed in relation to well-known free amino acids of olives and total amino acids of third instar larvae grown on an artificial medium. Of 19 amino acids found, 15 proteinic ones could be identified.
