SUMMARY From larvae collected in Iran (1965), the rearing of 6 successive generations has been carried out with a mixture of decayed wood or compost and cow-dung for feeding the larvae. The rearing has allowed to determine the duration of the different instars of the life cycle at 28-30 °C: larval instars: 8 months; nymphosis: 3 weeks; adult instar: 4 months; to study some factors about the fecondity of the females and to show that the larvae are able to feed on living plant material (for instance apple). The systematic characters and the sex differences have been specified for the adult and the grub.
