Contribution a l'Étude des Aphyist Howard du Liban [Hym. Chalcidoidea, Aphelinidae] (1)

Contribution a l'Étude des Aphyist Howard du Liban [Hym. Chalcidoidea, Aphelinidae] (1) Summary This contribution falls within the general framework of research undertaken with the aim of establishing an integrated pest control programme in the citrus orchards in Lebanon. The major ecological characteristics of citrus plantations are defined. The importance of the key-pest — Aonidiella aurantii — is brought out, and its behaviour established. Since the most important parasites of citrus Diaspine scale insects are found in the genus Aphytis, a study of the local species is undertaken, and it is extended to cover all species found on other scale insects in Lebanon. Considering that some confusion exists in the systematics of the genus Aphytis, a critical analysis of the taxonomic characters is given along with certain morphological clarifications. http://www.deepdyve.com/assets/images/DeepDyve-Logo-lg.png Annales de la Société entomologique de France (N S ) Taylor & Francis

The major ecological characteristics of citrus plantations are defined. The importance of the key-pest — Aonidiella aurantii — is brought out, and its behaviour established.
