Summary Original descriptions or complements are given for larvae of seven Oniticellini species (Coleptera, Scarabaeidae): Oniticellus (Euoniticellus) fulvus (Goeze), O. (Euoniticellus) pallipes (F.), O. (Euoniticellus) africanus (Har.), O. (Euoniticellus) intermedius (Reiche), O. (Euoniticellus) triangulatus (Har.), Oniticellus (s. str.) cinctus (F.) and Helictopleurus giganteus (Har.). The separation of Helictopleurina, endemic sub-tribe from Madagascar, is confirmed; however it seems that genus Helictopleurus Orb. is quite enough heterogeneous. The Euoniticellus rising to a genus by Janssens (1953) would be fully justified on larval criteria. With present bases we can separate species in two groups; the first with palearctic species provided by anterior and posterior epitorma, and the second with all known african species, without anterior epitorma. The two sub-genus Oniticellus s. str. Serv. and Paroniticellus Balth. are very affined; their larvae are characterized by numerous setae on the head capsule. Genus Liatongus Reitter is quite different from the other Oniticellina if we refer to the description of Liatongus monstrosus (Bates) by Edmonds and Halffter (1972). To conclude, Oniticellini, and particularly Oniticellina, constitute an extremely diversified group. The importance of distinctive characteristics between larvae allow us to consider that genera are quite enough heterogeneous.
