Summary Bernard Pintureau: Biometric studies on Arethusana de Lesse (Lep. Satyridae). A biometric study of 400 french individuals of Arethusana arethusa (Lep. Satyridae)—arethusa, dentata and intermediate forms-has been undertaken. We have counted the number of spots of the 2 wings and measured the length of the vein number 2 of the anterior wing, the diameter of the biggest spot of the same wing and the length of the 4th fawn coloured marking of the posterior wing. Though the morphometric indexes (diameter of the spot + length of the 4th fawn coloured marking) have significant different averages for the two forms, the distributions overlap quite a lot. The intermediates, which exist chiefly (but not only) in the contact-zone of the two forms (Gironde) have an average morphometric index situated between those of these 2 forms. But we could not separate the intermediates of the contact-zone —which could be hybrides— of those of other regions which could be a rare morph belonging to arethusa form.
