Abstract
Summary Two new subgenera of Platydracus are proposed: Tropoplatydracus and Paraplatydracus. The genera Erichsonellus Bernhauer & Schubert, and Paragastrisus Bernhauer are compared among themselves and their validity proved. Lastly the following 21 african Staphylinini are described as new: Erichsonius gabonicus Gabrius grassei; Mentophilonthus bangoranensis and centrafricanus; Philonthus leyi, labastiei, coiffaitianus, bangoranensis, gilleti, grassei, cailleuxi, belingaensis; Platydracus (Tropoplatydracus) lecordieri and Pl. (Paraplatydracus) girardi; Erichsonellus mirei; Paragastrisus mireanus, koundenensis, coiffaiti.
