The question formulated in the subtitle inscribes it in the scholarship on the changing ideologies of tourism, or ‘moralisation of tourism’ to use a phrase that Butcher (2003) has coined. What makes this book original is the concentration on the ‘online to offline’ technologies, couchsurging.org in particular, which structure the new leisure mobi- lity and contribute to the complexity of its meanings. The book consists of nine chapters, including an introduction by the editors and an after- word by the renowned anthropologist: Nelson Graburn. The geographic scope of the book stretches from Krasnoyarsk in Russia to Brisbane in Australia, and from Tunis in Tunisia to Ho Shi Minh in Vietnam. The attempt to address the geo-political inequalities informing the practices of couchsurfing in such different locations is one of the indisputable strengths of the volume.
